FR, NFR and MFR in Adopt Me: What the Letters Actually Mean

What FR, NFR and MFR mean in Adopt Me, how many pets each one takes to make, and why the price ladder jumps so hard.

In Adopt Me trading shorthand, R means Ride, F means Fly, N means Neon and M means Mega Neon — so an NFR is a Neon pet that can fly and be ridden, and an MFR is the Mega Neon version. The letters are a cost ladder: a Neon takes four full-grown pets and a Mega Neon takes four Neons, which is sixteen of the base pet before you add the potions.

Updated 8 September 2026.

The four letters

Adopt Me itself does not use these abbreviations in its UI. They are trading shorthand, and they map onto four real in-game mechanics:

Letter Means The mechanic behind it
R Ride The Ride-A-Pet Potion, 130 Robux in the potion shop — "makes them rideable forever"
F Fly The Fly-A-Pet Potion, 255 Robux — "makes them flyable forever"
N Neon Fusing four Full Grown pets of the same species in the Neon Cave
M Mega Neon Fusing four Luminous Neons of the same species — sixteen base pets in total

Robux prices are from the wiki's Potions page, read 8 September 2026.

They stack in a fixed order, and reading the shorthand is mechanical once you know it:

There is no tier above Mega Neon. The wiki's Mega Neons page states it outright: "There are no further Neon tiers after Mega Neon."

How a Neon is actually made

The Neon Cave recipe, the six age stages either side of it and the pets that cannot be fused at all are covered in full on Neon vs Mega Neon in Adopt Me. What matters for the letters is only the arithmetic: N is four Full Grown pets, M is four Luminous Neons, and an MFR therefore starts from sixteen of the base pet. Neons were added in July 2019, Mega Neons on 17 April 2020, and there is nothing above them.

Why the abilities carry over — and where they can be lost

This is the part that decides whether you get an MFR or just an M.

Both wiki pages state the same rule in the same words: if any single pet going into the fusion can fly or be ridden, the Neon or Mega that comes out keeps that ability.

So Fly and Ride survive the fusion, and only one of the four inputs needs to carry each ability. That is why an NFR is not simply four FRs — one FR in the set is enough to produce an NFR. It is also why a Mega Neon made from four plain Neons is an "M" and not an "MFR", and why the two do not sell for the same thing.

Practically: an MFR built the cheapest legitimate way needs sixteen of the base pet at Full Grown, one Fly-A-Pet Potion and one Ride-A-Pet Potion somewhere in the chain, and four full Neon age-ups on top of the sixteen ordinary ones.

What the ladder does to price

Sixteen-to-one is the compounding factor, and it shows up directly in our own catalogue naming. Using the Adopt Me variants we list, the same species at different rungs:

Pet Base R FR NFR
Bat Dragon $185.00 $302.09 $290.00 $850.00
Frost Dragon $89.00 — $85.99 $190.00
Shadow Dragon — — $195.00 $440.00
Owl $99.09 — $55.00 $290.00
Unicorn $4.39 $4.59 — $11.99 (N)

Prices are our listings on 8 September 2026 and availability changes — check the product page rather than this table. Two things are worth reading out of it:

The N step is the expensive one, not the potions. A Fly-A-Pet Potion is 255 Robux and a Ride-A-Pet is 130. The Neon step is four whole pets. That is why NFR sits at roughly three times FR on the dragons above, while FR sits close to the base pet.

The ladder is not always monotonic. FR Frost Dragon at $85.99 is listed below a plain Frost Dragon at $89.00, and FR Owl at $55.00 below a plain Owl at $99.09. Trading demand, not the crafting cost, sets these — an inconsistency you will see on every Adopt Me price list, ours included, and one to check rather than assume.

Which pets cannot be Neon or Mega

Four pets can never be fused at either tier — Pet Rock, Scoob, Pumpkin and Burtaur — so an "NFR Pumpkin" is describing something the game cannot produce, and a listing that offers one is worth a second look. The Sandwich is the opposite case: it and the MFR Sandwich reached players Mega Neon by default. The full exception list, and the Frost Dragon / Shadow Dragon colour quirk, are on Neon vs Mega Neon.

Where to buy

We list Adopt Me pets by variant, using exactly the shorthand above. Availability changes — check each page rather than this list:

Individual pages include FR Turtle, FR Frost Dragon, NFR Shadow Dragon, MFR Kitsune and NFR Parrot.

Adopt Me pets are handed over by manual in-game trade — we meet you in game and the pet moves through the ordinary trade window, and the completed order is photographed. There is no automated Adopt Me lane and we do not claim one. Our current delivery statistics are published on /about, and the full flow is in Adopt Me pet trading and delivery.
