Permanent vs Regular Fruits in Blox Fruits
The real difference between a permanent and a regular Blox Fruit: storage, trading, gifting and what a swap costs.
A regular Blox Fruit is consumed when you replace it; a permanent one lets you switch back to that fruit at will, for ever, from the Dealer or the Shop menu. The practical difference is not power — the fruit behaves identically — it is that a permanent survives every swap, can be stored and traded, and can be bought whether or not the fruit is in stock.
Updated 8 September 2026.
The one-line definition
The wiki: permanent fruits "allow the user to always switch to the purchased fruit at will via the Blox Fruit Dealer or the Shop menu, replacing the user's previous fruit."
Regular fruits do not. From the Dealer's page: "Fruits bought with Money are expendable, and will be lost when replaced by eating or buying a fruit."
That is the entire distinction, and everything below follows from it.
Side by side
| Regular fruit | Permanent fruit | |
|---|---|---|
| Bought with | Money, or found in the world | Robux, or gifted |
| Survives a swap | No — lost when replaced | Yes — switch back any time |
| Needs to be in stock | Yes, to buy from the Dealer with Money | No — "can be bought from the Dealer even when not in stock" |
| Can be stored | No | Yes, into the Inventory |
| Can be traded | No | Yes, once stored |
| Can be gifted | No | Yes, and cross-server since Update 24 |
| Rarity when stored | n/a | assigned Premium, whatever it cost |
| Abilities and mastery | identical | identical |
They are the same fruit. A Permanent Dragon and a physical Dragon have the same moveset, the same damage and the same mastery. You are not buying power; you are buying permanence and portability.
"Are perms worth it?" — the four cases where they clearly are
1. You want to switch fruits and switch back. This is the whole feature. If your PvP fruit and your grinding fruit are different, one of them needs to be permanent or you are re-buying it every time.
2. The fruit you want almost never stocks. We poll the Blox Fruit Dealer and the Advanced Fruit Dealer continuously — 197,875 records across 144 days to 8 September 2026. In 865 recorded normal restocks, Control appeared once, Tiger once, Kitsune five times and Yeti five times. Dragon and Magnet appeared zero times in either lane. For those fruits the permanent is not a convenience, it is the route.
3. You want it in a trade. Only stored fruits can be traded, only permanents can be stored, and the wiki notes permanents "are often traded for very high value fruits due to the fact that they cost Robux" — they also carry a 100% value-difference allowance in the trade window rather than the standard 40%.
4. You are gifting. A regular fruit cannot be gifted. A permanent can, to anyone, in any server since Update 24, and it activates immediately on arrival.
Where they clearly are not worth it
If you are still deciding what to main. A permanent locks in a fruit you will keep returning to. At level 100 you do not know what that is yet. The Blox Fruit Gacha exists for exactly this — one random physical fruit every two hours for Money.
If the fruit is cheap and stocks constantly. Blade appeared in 36% of restocks, Flame in 30%, Smoke in 27%. Paying Robux for permanence on a fruit the Dealer offers twice a day is paying for a problem you do not have.
If you only want to try it. A physical fruit is the trial; the permanent is the commitment.
What a permanent costs
The wiki's permanent table runs from 50 Robux for Rocket to 5,000 for Dragon, with 42 fruits in between; adding the whole table up comes to 73,880 Robux. The Common tier is 50–380 Robux, Uncommon 550–1,000, Rare 1,100–1,300, Legendary 1,500–2,250 and Mythical 2,300–5,000.
Full Robux and USD figures for all 42 are in Blox Fruits permanent fruit prices.
The storage rule people miss
You can store one of each fruit type — not one of each fruit you own, one of each type. Extra slots come from the +1 Fruit Storage product at 400 Robux, and each purchase adds one permanent slot for every fruit. The wiki notes it "has a very high trading value due to its usefulness", which is unusual praise for a shop item.
If you intend to build a permanent collection and trade out of it, storage is the constraint you will hit first, not Robux.
