Is Buying Adopt Me Pets Safe?
What is specific to Adopt Me when you buy a pet: the Trade License gate, the unfair-trade warning, and manual delivery.

Buying an Adopt Me pet means one thing mechanically: someone trades it to you through the game's own 18-slot trade window, which never needs your password. The Adopt Me specifics are that you must hold a Trade License to receive an ultra-rare or legendary pet, and that the game will show an "unfair trade" warning on a purchase — because a purchase does look one-sided from inside the game.
What is specific to Adopt Me
Delivery is a manual trade. Always. Adopt Me has no gifting system, so no automated route exists for anyone. All 34 of our live Adopt Me listings are manual delivery.
You need a Trade License. Added on 5 November 2020 "in an effort to prevent scams", it is earned by passing a test at the Safety Hub on Adoption Island, and it is required to trade ultra-rare and legendary items — which is nearly everything worth buying. Without it, no seller can hand you the pet.
Expect the unfair-trade pop-up. The game warns the player getting the better end that scamming is bannable, and warns the other party they may be getting scammed, then grants 15 extra seconds. On a purchase you are receiving more than you give, so the warning is the game working, not a red flag about the seller.
Let the countdown run. The trade counter resets every time either side adds or removes an item, and it exists to stop a last-second swap. Anyone urging you to accept quickly is asking you to give up the game's main protection.
Use backpack viewing, added 14 January 2026, to confirm the pet exists before anything moves.
